Assistant Coach:

Assistant Hockey Coach!
We are a well-established hockey organization committed to developing both the skills and
character of our players. Our program emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship,

As an Assistant Coach, you will work closely with the head coach to plan and execute practices,
analyze game strategies, and provide individualized instruction to players. You will play a key role
in fostering a positive and supportive team culture while helping players develop their skills and
achieve their goals.

Responsibilities:
• Assist in planning and conducting practices that focus on skill development, tactical
strategies, and team cohesion.
• Provide constructive feedback and individualized coaching to players during practices and
games.
• Collaborate with the head coach to develop game plans and strategies to maximize team
performance.
• Help motivate and inspire players to give their best effort and continually improve.
• Assist in scouting and recruiting players for the team.
• Maintain open communication with players and staff to address any concerns or issues in
a timely manner.
• Uphold the values and standards of the organization both on and off the ice.
Qualifications:
• Preferred coaching experience in Junior A Hockey or higher.
• Preferred player experience at the Junior A level or higher.
• Strong knowledge of the game of hockey, including rules, strategies, and techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.• Ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team.
• Passion for teaching and developing young athletes.
• Positive attitude and role model behavior.
• Valid coaching certifications, Development 1 level, or willingness to obtain level.

Marketing Specialist:

for you to join our team as a Marketing Specialist!
Merritt Centennials are a dynamic and forward-thinking hockey organization dedicated to
promoting the sport and fostering a strong community of fans and supporters. With a commitment
to excellence both on and off the ice, we strive to create memorable experiences for players, fans,
and sponsors alike.

As a Marketing Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative
marketing campaigns to increase fan engagement, drive ticket sales, and enhance the visibility of
our organization. You will work closely with the marketing team to create compelling content,
manage digital and social media platforms, and collaborate with sponsors to maximize exposure.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote hockey games, events, and
initiatives.

• Create engaging content for social media, email campaigns, website, and other digital
channels.

• Manage and grow our organization’s social media presence, including posting updates,
responding to inquiries, and monitoring analytics.

• Collaborate with graphic designers, photographers, and videographers to produce high-
quality multimedia content.

• Coordinate promotional activities and community outreach events to increase awareness
and involvement.

• Cultivate relationships with sponsors and partners to leverage marketing opportunities and
maximize ROI.

• Analyze marketing data and metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and identify areas
for improvement.

• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices to continually enhance our marketing
efforts.

• Sponsorship salesperson, to secure sponsorship deals for Merritt Centennials through the following:

Prospecting: Identify potential sponsors whose target audience aligns with our
organization or event. Research companies’ marketing objectives, budget
availability, and previous sponsorship history.

Pitching: Develop compelling sponsorship packages tailored to the needs and
objectives of potential sponsors. Highlight the benefits and ROI of partnering with
your organization, including brand exposure, audience engagement, and potential
business opportunities.

Negotiation: Negotiate terms and pricing with potential sponsors to reach mutually
beneficial agreements. Be prepared to address objections and adapt your proposals
to meet the sponsor’s requirements while maximizing value for your organization.

Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with sponsors by providing
excellent customer service and support throughout the sponsorship lifecycle.
Maintain regular communication, deliver on promises, and seek feedback to ensure
satisfaction and loyalty.

Contract Management: Draft and finalize sponsorship contracts outlining the rights,
obligations, and deliverables for both parties. Ensure compliance with legal and
regulatory requirements and manage any necessary approvals or revisions.

Activation and Fulfillment: Coordinate the execution of sponsorship agreements,
including the delivery of promised benefits and activation of sponsorship assets.
Monitor performance metrics and provide reports to sponsors to demonstrate the
impact of their investment.

Retention and Renewal: Continuously evaluate the success of sponsorships and
identify opportunities for improvement. Proactively engage with sponsors to assess
satisfaction, address concerns, and explore renewal or upsell opportunities for
future partnerships.

Qualifications:
• Preferred bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
• Proven experience in marketing, preferably within the sports industry.
• Strong understanding of digital marketing platforms, including social media, email, and
content management systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a creative flair for storytelling.
• Ability to think strategically and develop innovative marketing campaigns that resonate
with our target audience.
• Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
• Passion for hockey and a genuine enthusiasm for engaging fans and building community
connections.
• Negotiation, and relationship-building skills, as well as a thorough understanding of our
organization’s offerings and the value proposition for potential sponsors.
• Essential to be updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and best practices in
sponsorship sales and marketing.
