Diego Johnson Commits to the Centennials for the 22/23 Season

MERRITT, B.C. – The Merritt Centennials Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce Forward Diego Johnson (’06) has committed to the team for the 2022-2023 season.
Johnson, a 5’10 170 pound native of Fort St. James, British Columbia has spent the last number of seasons, including this season, at the Okanagan Hockey Academy in Penticton.

Diego is a skilled and feisty forward with great vision, he doesn’t shy away from tough areas of the ice and uses his work ethic to create scoring chances. The Cents’ staff believes the sky is the limit for Diego and are thrilled he has chosen the Centennials as his destination for next season.

So far this season, in 18 games as a 15-year-old in the CSSHL U-17 with OHA, Diego has tallied 23 points, 9 goals, and 14 assists to go along with 28 penalty minutes. He also has gotten into one game so far with the Centennials.

“Diego is a player that plays the game at a pace that will allow him success in the BCHL, not many players are ready to play in this league at his age, but with his frame and willingness to battle in every zone, Diego will be a player that can move up and down a lineup and will be exciting for fans to watch mature into a force in this league.” – Cents Head Coach and GM Curtis Toneff.

The Merritt Centennials are excited to welcome Diego and his family who now reside in Merritt, to the Cents organization.
