Chichkin and McIntosh Commit to the Cents

MERRITT, BC. – The Merritt Centennials Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce a pair of commitments from the BWC Academy U-18 Prep team in the CSSHL. Defenseman Aleksey Chichkin  (’05) and Forward Ryder McIntosh (’05) have signed a letter of intent to suit up for the Centennials for the 2022-23 season.

Chichkin, a 6’3 220 pound native of Burnaby, British Columbia has spent the last number of seasons, including this season, at the Burnaby Winter Club Academy under former NHLers Mike and Mark Santorelli. So far this season, In 24 games as a 16-year-old in the CSSHL U-18 Prep League, Aleksey has tallied 13 points, 3 goals and 10 assists to go along with 22 penalty minutes.”I’m excited to start things off with the Cents. I’m hoping to make an impact next year and keep developing my game. The coaches, staff and small-town atmosphere is great and can’t wait to get started this upcoming season ” said Chichkin.

McIntosh, a 5’10 165 pound native of Langley, British Columbia suits up for the BWC Academy as well, and was affiliated early this season by the Vernon Vipers. So far this season, In 24 games as a  recently turned 17-year-old in the CSSHL U-18 Prep League, Ryder has tallied 34 points, 17 goals and 17 assists to go along with 16 penalty minutes.”I’m super excited to kick things off with Merritt next season. I had the opportunity to develop a relationship with Curtis over the last month and he was very welcoming. I hope to bring a 200-foot offensive game to the team next season and am very excited for what the future holds” said McIntosh.

“Ryder is a highly skilled Forward who is currently playing Centre and putting up great numbers, he makes players look like they are standing still constantly and goes to the hard areas of the ice with a sense of urgency. Aleksey is a two-way Defenseman who logs big minutes with his team, contributes in all areas of the ice, and plays good smart hockey in all situations of the game” said Cents Head Coach and GM Curtis Toneff.
