Cents Outgun Quesnel 7-5

Merritt, BC – October 23, 2009

Derek Hills and Colton Sobchak each scored twice in sparking the Merritt Centennials to a 7-5 win over the visiting Quesnel Millionaires on Friday in the BC Hockey League.

Hills, who now has three goals in his last two games and five markers on the season, notched the winner at 14:12 of the third period to help the Centennials post their fifth win in nine home starts this season.

The Cents, who trailed 2-0 after the first period, also had goals from Dustin Johnson, Matt Mazzarolo and Jeff Zmurchyk as they took a 5-3 lead early in the third period.

Trail replied with goals in the final frame from Chris Kerr and Trever Hertz.

Centennials netmider Keith Hamilton improved his season record to 2-3 while turning aside 25 of 28 shots. Millionaires goaltender Kirby Halcrow yielded six goals on 41 shots.

Merritt returns to the ice Saturday night against Trail at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. Quesnel is back in action Saturday night in Vernon against the 15-1-0-0 Vipers.
