Cents Forward Zach Court Commits to University of Alaska-Anchorage for 2018-19

The Merritt Centennials are excited to announce that forward Zach Court has committed to the University of Alaska-Anchorage (NCAA Div. I) for the 2018-19 season.

Court, who’s from Winnipeg, spent the last season and a half in Merritt, putting up 47 points (16 goals, 31 assists) in 73 regular season games. He was acquired from Nanaimo in January 2016 after tallying 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) in 38 games with the Clippers. The 20-year-old de-committed from the University of Nebraska-Omaha to return to Merritt for the 2017-18 season in hopes of achieving a new NCAA commitment.

“Zach has looked outstanding thus far in training camp and the pre-season. We’re sure he’ll be an impact player for us this season before heading to the Seawolves next fall,” said Centennials GM and Head Coach Joe Martin. “Zach worked hard to be noticed by Division I schools and with his future solidified, we expect him to take his game to another level in his final season of junior hockey.”

University of Alaska-Anchorage alumni includes former NHLers Mike Peluso, Curtis Glencross, and Rob Conn, along with current Washington Capitals forward Jay Beagle.

Court is the first player on this season’s Centennials roster to secure a NCAA scholarship.
