Cents Fall In Double OT vs Wild

POST GAME: The Merritt Centennials, (17-23-3-1) fell short against the Wenatchee Wild, (30-12-3-1), earlier tonight in a thrilling double overtime game.

The first period saw nothing except for just three penalties, two for Merritt and the other for Wenatchee. The second period also saw nothing except for one penalty for the Wild.

There were a lot of chances though for both sides, Zach Court, Rylan Van Unen and Nick Wicks getting tons of chances for the Cents, while for the Wild, it was Cooper Zech that had a lot of chances to get the puck past Austin Roden.

The third period is when things started to get interesting, just 4:30 into the third, it was Murphy Stratton being set up from Sam Hesler and Sam Morton to give the Wild the 1-0 lead. Zach Zorn got the team going when he was ejected out of the game for a fight at 12:18 of the third. With just 37 seconds left in the game, it looked like the Wild were going to get a 1-0 win, but Zach Court wouldn’t have that, he put the puck past the Wild’s goalie after being set up from Nicholas Wicks and Tyrell Buckley to tie the game up at one.

The first overtime solved nothing and it was the Wild’s leading scorer on the front end, Jasper Weatherby to take the win for Wenatchee after Roden made a huge kicksave on Lucas Sowder with Weatherby getting the rebound.

The Centennials managed to earn a point in the double overtime loss and look for revenge tomorrow night as they take on Wenatchee once again. Pregame goes at 6:45 on Q101 with Jared Thomas and puck drop is set for 7:00.
