Cents Fall For 3rd Straight

The Vees scored early, and the Cents fought the puck all night long in a 5-0 defeat at the SOEC.

Penticton forward Colton Kalezic was able to beat Marshall after collecting a rebound 1:22 into the contest to make it 1-0 early. It was the formula the Vees would follow all night long to produce opportunities and offense. Lukas Sillinger scored in the same fashion late in the period to make it 2-0 heading to the second. Shots after 1 were 19-6.

In the second, the Cents started to get some powerplay opportunities, but not before David Silye made It 3-0 after firing a shot from the high slot. The Cents had a 2 man advantage, but weren’t able to take advantage, and the score would remain the same heading into the third. Shots after 2 were 32-11.

In the final frame, the Vees added to their lead with goals from Barnes and Niedermeyer. The Cents mustered 11 shots in the third, but the effort came too little and too late for the 5-0 final. Shots were 45-20 in favor of Penticton.

Tanner Marshall came up with huge saves throughout the game, but didn’t get the run support required.

Once again, Derek Sweet-Coulter wasn’t available for post game comments after the boys took a long look in the mirror in the locker room.

The Cents look to rebound in the coming week with games against the Langley Rivermen on Tuesday, the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Wednesday, the Vernon Vipers on Friday, and the Vipers at home on Sunday for Teddy Bear Toss at 2pm.
