Cents Acquire Three From Burnaby

The Merritt Centennials are pleased to announce the acquisition of forward Alex Valenti (89), Jordan Soquila (89) and Stephen Ceccanese (89) from the Burnaby Express in exchange for defenceman Cameron Brodie (88) and forward Dylan Herold (89). In another move, the Cents acquired the junior 'A' playing rights to defenceman Chris Van Duynhoven (89) from the Surrey Eagles in exchange for Ceccanese.

Valenti, a 5'11'' 185 lb. forward from St. Louis, Missouri, has 12 points in 17 games this season with the Express. He had 12 points in 43 games as a rookie last season with Burnaby.

Soquila, who is from Maple Ridge, BC, is 6'0'' and 194 lbs. He has 6 points in 18 games this season with Burnaby. Soquila notched 15 points in 59 games with the Express as a rookie last season. He spent 2006-07 with the Ridge Meadows Flames of the PIJHL, scoring 48 points in 45 games. Prior to that, Soquila was the leading scorer on the Ridge Meadows Bantam B'1 Rustlers, posting 68 points in 46 games.

Van Duynhoven is a 6'5'' 242 lb. d-man from Burnaby, BC, who has 198 Western Hockey League games under his belt with Prince George and Chilliwack. In that time, he has notched 22 points and 213 penalty minutes. He is currently playing for the Grandview Steelers of the PIJHL.
