MERRITT, BC. – The Merritt Centennials Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce Defenceman Michael Shara (’03) has committed to the team for the 2022-2023 season.
Shara, a 5’10 185 pound native of Laguna Niguel, California spent the 2021-22 and 2020-21 seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 18U AAA program.
Shara is described as an aggressive and detailed Defenceman that plays hard every single shift, he has the skating ability to push the play offensively and can log big minutes due to being in incredible physical condition. The Cents’ staff believe Shara will be a leader on and off the ice immediately and will be relied on in key situations.
Last season, In 48 games with the ‘Pens Elite, Michael tallied 11 points, 1 goal and 10 assists to go along with 36 penalty minutes. Michael also finished the season with an impressive +21.
