Centennials’ Schneider Captures Year End Honour

The BCHL has named it’s year end recipient of the FortisBC Energy Player of the Season.

Merritt Centennials forward Brendan Schneider is getting the nod for the regular season after racking up 12 FortisBC Energy Player of the Game nods, while Wenatchee Wild defenceman Cooper Zech – who earned the recognition five times in the playoffs – is the postseason champ.

Schneider, a native of Wellesley, Ont., tallied 16 goals and 20 assists for the Cents this season while playing in 57 games and also registered 36 penalty minutes.

Standing at 5-foot-9, and 165-pounds, Schneider’s point totals took off near the end of the season after a move from the wing to centre between Zach Court and Zach Risteau. The righthand shot finished the regular season on a high as he was named a game star and/or the Energy Player of the Game in five of the last seven contests.

Schneider is committed to NCAA Div. I Mercyhurst University for next season.
