Alumni Update: Michigan Tech University

Merritt BC – Gavin Gould is currently playing with the Michigan Tech University Huskies of the WCHA in the Division 1 College hockey program. Gould is currently in his second season with the Huskies.

 

Gould, a native of North Vancouver BC, played three seasons with the Centennials before finishing up his Junior ‘A’ career with the Nanaimo Clippers in the 2015-16 season. Gould played 169 BCHL games, notching 65 goals and 89 assists while putting up 99 penalty minutes. He played 22 post-season games in the BCHL notching four goals and 11 asssists.

 

This season with the Huskies Gould has played 43 games while earning himself 13 goals and 15 assists. Last season he played 33 games while notching 12 goals and 11 assists and last season he earned himself the NCAA WCHA Rookie Of The Year.     

 

Gould also won the WCHA Championship last season with the Huskies.

 

Devin Kero is currently playing for the Michigan Tech University Huskies of the WCHA in the Division 1 College hockey program along with Gould. Kero is in his final season with the Huskies.

 

Kero, a native of Hancock, Michigan, played just one season with the Centennials back in the 2013-14 season playing 40 regular season games and four post season games.

 

Kero put up a save percentage of .918 and a goals against average of 2.48 in the regular season while in the post-season he had a goals against average of 4.92 while his save percentage was .855.

 

This season with the Huskies, Kero has played 16 games earning himself a save percentage of .910 and a goals against average of 2.50.

 

Kero won the WCHA Championship last season with the Huskies along with Gould.

 

Dane Birks is currently playing for the Michigan Tech University Huskies of the WCHA in the Division 1 College hockey program along with Gould and Kero. Birks is in his fourth year with the Huskies.

 

Birks, a native of Merritt BC, played two seasons with the Centennials after playing 10 games with the Trail Smoke Eaters the season before. Birks played a total of 112 BCHL regular season games notching nine goals and 32 assists.

 

In 2013 Birks was drafted in the sixth round, 164th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL.

 

Birks also won the WCHA Championship last season with Kero and Gould.
