Van Unen Invited To Camp

The Merritt Centennials are excited and proud to announce that forward Rylan Van Unen, has been invited to tryout for Team Canada West for the 2017 World Junior ‘A’ Challenge in Calgary, Alberta, from December 2-5.  

Eighteen year old Van Unen, a native of Kamloops, BC, has been with the Centennials since last season, putting up five goals, and 13 assists, while drawing 47 penalty minutes in 53 regular season games, and in seven playoff games, drawing up two goals and one assist.

This season, Van Unen has played 23 games, putting up seven goals and four assists with 35 penalty minutes.

Before joining the Cents organization, Van Unen played for the Chase Heat in the KIJHL and his hometown Thompson Blazers in Kamloops the season before that.

Van Unen will be joined by head coach and General Manager, Joe Martin who was named as an assistant coach for the team early last month. Martin is in his eighth season with the Centennials, this season being his third as head coach and GM.
