Unforgettable. That’s just one word to describe the season that the Merritt Centennials had this year. From the beginning of the season, ups and downs throughout, to sweeping a former RBC National Championship team, it was a ride for the team and one of the most incredible playoff runs in ages.
At the start of the playoffs, the Cents were the underdogs and nobody expected them to come as far as they did. Four straight wins to sweep West Kelowna and coming from behind in the Vees series to force a game 7.
The Centennials made history this post-season becoming the first BCHL team ever to sweep a former RBC Cup National Championship team. It really was an unforgettable season.
The team has seven graduating players this season, Brett Jewell (Yale), Nick Fidanza, Stephan Seeger, Aaron Murray, Mike Faulkner, Zach Court (Nebraska-Omaha), and Cade Gleekel (St. Lawrence)
