Preview: Centennials Set To Welcome Silverbacks To NVMA

Preview – The Merritt Centennials (23-26-4-2) are set to take on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (23-26-3-1) for the game that was originally scheduled for this past Saturday night, tomorrow night at home. The last time that these two teams met was back on January 6th with the Centennials winning that game with a 4-2 final.

Austin Roden got the nod in net for the Centennials while it was Kyle Dumba in between the pipes for the Silverbacks. Merritt went two for five on the power play while Salmon Arm went one for four.

Merritt quickly jumped up to a 2-0 lead in the first period, the first goal coming just over three minutes thanks to Zachary Zorn and then the second goal coming at the 17:10 mark from Mathieu Gosselin.

Just a minute and 23 seconds into the first the Centennials jumped up to a 3-0 lead on the Silverbacks with Gosselin getting his second goal of the game. Salmon Arm wasn’t going down without a bit of a fight, at the 5:07 mark of the middle frame Justin Wilson broke Roden’s shutout as he got the puck top shelf over the blocker. At the 13:44 mark and on the power play Trey Thomas cut the game to 3-2 but that’s all that the Silverbacks would get past Roden.

Brendan Schneider iced the game for the Centennials at the 18:30 mark of the third period and made the game 4-2.

This is the last time that these two teams will see each other in the regular season and both are currently fighting for sixth in the Interior Division before the season ends on Sunday.
