Pierce Off To Paralympic Games

Merritt BC – The Merritt Centennials organization is excited to announce that former player, and former head coach and general manager, Luke Pierce is off to the Paralympic Games that run from March 9-18 in Pyeongchang South Korea as an assistant coach for the men’s sledge hockey team.

 

Pierce, a native of Merritt, spent his BCHL career with the Centennials from 2001-2003 before playing his final junior season with the Vernon Vipers. After the BCHL Pierce spent five seasons with the Royal Military College. In the 2009-2019 season, Pierce returned to Merritt to join the coaching staff as an assistant coach. The following season he was promoted midseason to head coach and general manager; he spent a total of seven seasons on the coaching staff with six of the seven seasons making the post season. Pierce left Merritt after getting a coaching job opportunity with the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League. In the 2014-15 season he was an assistant coach for the Canada West U19 team; this season he was the head coach of the Team Red U17-Dev team and an assistant coach for the Canada Red U17 team for the World Junior Challenge.
