Mantar Bhandal Makes The NHL

The Merritt Centennials are extremely proud and excited to announce that former play-by-play announcer Mantar Bhandal will be joining Hockey Night In Canada.

Bhandal was hired by Rogers Media and this weekend he will be starting that gig. He will be analyzing NHL games for the Punjabi audience.

Last season Bhandal gained more audience during the Cents playoff run against West Kelowna and Pentiction, especially Game 6 when Tyrell Buckley scored the OT winner to force a 7th game against the Vees.

“It’s an absolute honour, I mean words just fail me,” said Bhandal, “It’s been a childhood dream of mine to be on TV calling NHL games, and to have that dream come true is just that incredible. I owe a lot to the city of Merritt, to the Centennials organization for giving me every opportunity to succeed.” added Bhandal.

Bhandal also added, “I’ll never forget game 6, when Tyrell Buckley scored the OT winner to force a game 7. I’ve thanked him personally on numerous occasions because he put me on the map.”
