Cents Forward Chad Brears Commits to the University of Alabama-Huntsville
Monday, June 4, 2012 - Submitted by Merritt Centennials
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Merritt, BC - June 4, 2012

The Merritt Centennials are pleased to announce forward Chad Brears has accepted an offer to play for the University of Alabama-Huntsville starting with the 2012-13 season.

Brears played 58 regular season games this past season for the Cents and established new personal bests with 28 goals and 58 points. He finishes his BCHL career with 32 goals and 48 assists in 113 games.

"We are extremely happy for Chad and his commitment to Alabama-Huntsville, he had a breakout year this season and was a significant contributor to our recent success," said Cents Head Coach & GM Luke Pierce. "He is very well suited for college hockey with his speed and intelligence, and with his consistency this past season, Chad proved that he is an elite player who warranted the opportunity to move on to play Division I NCAA hockey."

"With the recent commitment of Evan Stack, these two players have shown that it's never too late to prove your worth," continued Pierce. "Both entered our league as 19 year olds which, traditionally, is not an age where many are able to come in and be impact guys, but not only did they become major impact players, but both were able to secure post-secondary scholarships at the Division I level."

Pierce added, "We thank Chad for his contributions here in Merritt and wish him the best during his time at Alabama-Huntsville."
