Cents forward Stephan Seeger named Assistant Captain

The Merritt Centennials announced today the naming of forward Stephan Seeger as a new assistant captain.

The Cents were looking to add to their leadership core following the departure of Tyler Holz earlier this month. Seeger, 20, is a veteran of 135 games of junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League, the US Hockey League and the BCHL.

“Stephan has experienced a lot in a few years of junior hockey, he’s had a few coaches over that time and has been in a few leagues. This isn’t the reason he’s been chosen as a captain on our team, but that experience has helped shape him into the man he is today,” said Centennials General Manager and Head Coach Joe Martin. “Stephan was raised well and stays grounded when facing adversity. Lately he’s found another level on the ice, we look forward to his solid play continuing.”

The Stamford, Connecticut product has 22 points (five goals, 17 assists) in 32 games with the Cents this season, including six points in the last seven games.
