Cents 2017 Spring Camp

The Merritt Centennials held their annual spring camp this past weekend. The team saw many kids from all over trying out to have a shot at playing for the Cents.

The camp saw two players that came from Newfoundland to try out and impress the Cents coaching staff. Both players said that they had a scout reach out to them to try out for the Centennials and it was a great opportunity to try out for Junior A hockey.

Trevor Gulenchyn, who came from the Pursuit of Excellence, and Brendan Laing, who came from the Kelowna Chiefs both came to impress the coaching staff.

“The organization is great” said Brendan, “It would be a great opportunity to play for the team and play for a town that loves its team so much.”

Trevor mentioned that he’s heard nothing but great things about the team and the coaching staff. “Joe and Matt are good coaches, they’ve been around the game a long time, and they run things properly from what I’ve seen and they would be great guys to play under.”

Head coach and GM Joe Martin was impressed with all the talent that was shown at the camp.

“Happy with the competitiveness of the camp,” said Martin, “Many good players which makes tough decisions for us. We will bring some back for main camp and a few of these players will make our team.”

The Cents will be holding a camp in Abbotsford in mid June, more details for that camp will be released at a later date.
